The original soundtrack for “Michael’s Resignation” is unique in that it only features young unsigned music talent from the UK. Any band, musician or artist can submit their track to be included as long as they are not affiliated to a major label or have any large backing behind them already. The film is designed to be a showcase for undiscovered creative talent, not for enhancing the marketing of already successful acts.
The title track for the film will be composed by one of the UK’s most promising bands, Andy Taylor and Rob Fisher’s MIDGAR (www.myspace.com/midgaruk). Rob suggested the initial premise for the movie, and the group are currently no1 on XFM’s online play chart.

The co-ordination of the soundtrack competition is being done through the movie’s MySpace page:

To submit your track, add the page to your friend list, send us a message and leave a comment on the main profile. If you would like to nominate a band, add us to your friends, leave a public comment and send us a message introducing us to them. It would however be best to familiarise yourself with the script before sending in jazz, reggae or country and western.
Who to speak to if you want to know more:
The people principally behind the management of the soundtrack are Chloe Waddington (chloe [dot] waddington [at] michaelsresignation [dot] com) Cami Walsh (cami [dot] walsh [at] michaelsresignation [dot] com) and Virgilio Fino of UseYourEars.com (michaelsresignation [at] useyourears [dot] com).
Any or all queries should be directed towards them in the first instance. Final choices will be made in post-production, but all music sent over will get a feature on the website and DVD.
Soundtrack launch/showcase night
As well as screening night, there will be a “Battle of the Bands” style showcase evening in south London where all the bands who featured on the movie soundtrack will be playing their individual tracks in between 15 minute chapters of the film being shown.
