You can sit there on your PC looking at this writing, wondering how it all came about, with all your thoughts as to what’s good and bad about it. You can be a cynic of course, thinking of all the things you think will hold us back and using it to find a reason not to stick your neck out or believe so you don’t feel uncomfortable. You can be a bystander and just jump on later when you think it’s getting big.
A new day that is “that” day
Maybe you spend all your days just existing, walking around waiting for that mysterious time in the future when things will change. That day is today. It is only ever today. You can help. You can change things and do something new, and all it takes is for you to find the will to go a little bit beyond reading. You may not have what you think it takes, but you do have something. And we’ll find it. We’ll encourage you as you encourage us.
This movie is just as much for you as it is for us. If you need help, help someone else; if you want a break, be someone else’s break; if you need to be inspired, go out and be inspirational. You need to be the change, then things will change for you.
Surprise and encourage yourself
There are so many ways you can help us and we welcome anyone and everyone who can bring something to what we’re doing. Maybe you don’t thing you can bring anything because you’ve never worked in film before or don’t have any big skills. But a movie production is just like any other business and runs on the fundamentals, including the invisible unsung things that aren’t in the public eye. You might be able to keep us organised or speed up the paperwork; you might know the best place for that graphic; you might be able to help carry boxes or know someone who could give us that prop for free.
Working on our project is about having a vision of something greater, with other people who are passionately dedicated to breaking through into the world and want to achieve something remarkable. It’s not a typical day in your dull office slaving away for a boss who will never appreciate you for it and you’re helping everyone to help everyone else. Other people are working to help you, and you’re working to help them. Everyone encourages each other and shares in each other’s success. You don’t even have to do something big, and it feels damned good.
